Evening of eating, meeting friends & fun…..

Yesterday after work and our appointment with the Financial Planner, Bashir & myself went shopping at Pacific Shopping Centre-My! the number of people! just too chaotic for my liking. Christmas is definitely in the air as we could hear Carollers singing beautiful Christmas songs at the Bay. We had a quick bite at the Food Court, bought a few things from the Bay & Sears and then headed out to meet Farrah at Chongqing restaurant on Commercial drive. I got totally lost going there-the dark evening and the rain were to blame for that! I was delayed by about 20 minutes. To our pleasant surprise, we met the Mangalji boys with their families. I think I have not seen them for over 20 years. it was nice conversing with them. Pleasant as always. We then met my high school friend Mumtaz & Salim. Later we met the Kanji Kara family-felt good when I met some of my Banting School BUI students, all grown up now-Jamil is engaged! Farzana is working at SFU, Crim dept and Nafisa is married too! Wow, I must be getting old! Meeting all these acquaintances really added to the evening. No, the evening is not finished as yet. We then went to Darkhana JK and met some more friends. Gulnar Karmali was there with her sister for the ruhani dua and so was Azmina Popat. Such a beautiful JK. Every time I go there I never want to go home. We freshened up and then headed to Jambo grill to meet up with Aku who was visiting Vanc. for the weekend. This was his first visit from Yellowknife after having spent a month there. Nick & Dianne joined us as well as Hanif and his son. We heard exciting stories from Aku-all his adventures up North! Had a great time, though we did not eat much as we were full, but of course who can resist a tasty beef samosa! Just as were leaving Jambo, we witnessed a car being towed across from Raja cinema-ouch! my sympathies to the owners of the car as they leave after the movies to find their car gone on a cold, dark, rainy night.

Collection Analysis worshop, Friday, Nov.27/09

I attended a workshop on collection analysis using excel at the Richmond Public Library. Christine Manzer was at the workshop too as well as Barabara Jo May and Miriam Moses. Was an interesting workshop and I picked up a few trick or short cuts to performing certain functions in excel. With my luck, some of my data on the CD provided by Tony, instructor was not working and so it was frustrating at times. On the way back home, I dropped Christine off and took the opportunity to visit the new Tomy Douglas Library, former Kingsway Branch of BPL. What a library! Absolutely amazing! Hope I can work a few shifts there! Then, without any prior plans, we decided to go to Simbas for dinner. It was a nice pleasant dinner-it was a lovely evening in all-and the company was good too.

Sad news

Went to JK after my massage appointment. Found out that Fatmabai Jadhavji passed away today. It scares me as to who will be next as I have a few more close friends and relatives that are sick. Went for a quick coffee and pastry at Tim Horton’s.

Evening with Farrah at Earls

Yesterday (Sept 22) , I worked till 8 pm and then met Bashir and Farrah for coffee at Earls in Burnaby. We had a pleasant evening. It is always nice to be with your loved ones!

We should proabably repeat this evening once or twice a month!

Oregon coast

We took a short trip to the Oregon coast for the Labor Day weekend. It was just wonderful! We had no time limits attached and so had a nice relaxing time. We had the opportunity of stopping at all the beautiful scenic spots on our way back to Vancouver. We went crazy and took hundreds of pics-even the camera could not capture this beauty! We had a storm one day and the waves were pounding and rose to 10 feet high. Though terrifying, it was a sight not to be missed!

Today was Chandraat. We went to Darkhana JK as we had ruhani dua for GM. Met a number of relatives and friends. Went for a quick coffee and samosas and then went to see an Indian movie. Was a real hilarious one! Ranee and Shahid Khan played a good role!

Tourist in my own city!

Yesterday, Aug. 30, we decided to explore beautiful BC. The day was beautiful and so we decided to check the new “Sea to Sky” Hwy, before the Olympics. There has been a lot of improvement to the roads, certain areas hav been widend, however, I am still very fearful of what may happen at the time of the Olympics as the traffic to Whistler will get heavier. Anyway, it was a pleasant day, and we stopped at Shannon Falls to have a picnic lunch.

We then drove around Squamish, had coffee and then stopped at Porteau Cove on our drive back to Vancouver. The cove is very scenic and a nice place to relax and have a picnic. Our next stop was at Horseshoe Bay, my favourite. I love watching the ferries coming in and leaving. We were fortunate to see a couple of harbour seals bobbing in the water very close to the shore line. Managed to get a couple of pics.
